Ballad of a Poplar
The poplars sway in the winter breeze The field is wider than even falcon sees The very time seems to freeze Why do we wish for there to be God we need to appease? Even idea of heaven is in the mind Without the mind Man is blind But what put the idea of divine in the mind What part of the mind is responsible for abstract? What in evolution made that part intact? Is there something beyond abstract? If fifth element is spirit what would it be if first element would be beyond abstract And what equivalent of fifth element would be at end of all Could there actually be something beyond soul Looking at wind kissed poplars towering tall Those strange questions creep into the soul Does answer to them in wind lies Or in shooting star that crosses the skies But I think it lies In the depth of my love’s eyes
