Uncle Steve Mr Larry and Me
2:04 AM 23 sept. 2014 Big and tall strong as an ox Now dead and gone and buried in a box Big men these were who traveled the world Worked hard for their pay and was proud when the flag unfurled Like rocks they were in strength and mind Won their battles except with time Their bodies grew old as the years went by Glasses replaced the glint in their eyes They searched and found the answers in life And grew to weak to fight the fight From dust the body came to dust it returns In heaven we live or in hell we burn I now understand this struggle of old men Longing to do what they no longer can Feeling the youth drain out of the bones Watching old friends die leaving them all alone I dreamed of these three and awoke in tears Thinking back on what feels like wasted years We try to live and capture it all Running working fighting feeling tall Then we are old and can't do it all And have to slow down and feel so small That is the lesson of loving this life It is a struggle of chaos and of strife Our true life as soul is what we forget We mold to our body thinking its all that we get But Christ came and told us that we can live on Full of light and standing tall and strong Remember we are not this aging body you see We are young souls living within these old trees One day our bodies will die and they will fall Then we will be free and with the Father of all
