Seek Fairness and Love
Seek Fairness and Love Seek ever toward the fair fairness in all you do let life birth joy in you gift you seek to ever share Stand firm in opposition true let honor be your great shield moral principles never yield wisdom that should stick like glue Honor the rights of others wisdom from fathers and mothers Robert Lindley, 08-03-2014 Note: The above poem was my poetic reply to my friend Peter Duggan on his recent write -This poem is here to stay-- My reply to that fine write by him is too long to reply in comment section there. My long reply: This is a fine write of a honorable poet bearing his soul for all to see! I mark you very high my much admired friend for adhering to that which you feel is right. We all should do that. As to how internet forums operate , popularity sells, it is just a fact. However, I fully agree that contest sponsors should desperately seek to be fair . Only one way can that come to be. That is for admin here to set the regulation that all member contests be judged --BLIND--TRULY BLIND. They could set up a system in which every new poem written for a contest goes directly into the contest and not out on the open board. Sponsor could then have no way to intentionally or accidentally come across poems on the open board and discover the author. I have now poems in contests that are ongoing but from this day forth will only participate in contests where the sponsor sets a regulation that no names be attached to the entry. And any poem violating this will be instantly dismissed and not judged--with no exceptions to this rule allowed. That would remove majority of favoritism and only poets contacting sponsor directly telling what entry is theirs would overcome it. I think to remove even the possibility of favoritism something addressing it in a meaningful way should be incorporated here. When we have honorable people speaking out like this I know it is not just sour grapes.. Are we more than just poets!? Are we people that seek fairness above our own ego's? I hope and and pray that we are.. If this gets me shunned --so be it... I must speak to honor first IMHO...
