Why, Where and When
Where are we going, and where have we been Through some past perpendicular surreal scene, Or some place where the heavens are scattered in grey? It seems so much has changed since we have been away. Why are our flowers all coloured just white Optical illusion, or a trick of the light? And why are our clouds coloured Autumnal gold Are they wrapped round the sun light to keep out the cold? Why are there no signposts upon our long road and why is there nothing to lighten our load? Yet why do we smile when inside we just frown And why so seldom up, and yet so often down? When will our promises mirror our dreams And when will our final one glow as it gleams, Like sails in the sunset, like a rainbow at dawn Like the soft glint of beauty each time it is born. When will our nightmares turn into our Prayers When the lantern burns bright at the foot of our stairs, And finally when will our spirits be free To sail in the breeze of life’s eternal sea?
