In the Beginning
In the heavens, the lights slowly went out one by one, As shadow clouds embraced once more, and the silence Seemed almost sacred, as if no voices had spoken there For a thousand years or more, upon that mystic eerie shore, Until at last, rune stones danced upon the sands, Those portents of divine commands that told their tales Of what will be beneath that cloud glazed whispered sea, And from the glow of rising sun, the rhymes of life were being spun. Footprints appeared upon the sands, the first of life’s many commands No sign of people, or of life, though yet again no sign of strife Just endless strands of perfect calm, and strangely from so far away Came sounds that voices never made, from moon meshed caves Where whispers walked, and where their echoes set off home, As through cloud keyholes moonlit keys tried once again to open doors The kind that wander through the mist and end up walking foreign shores, Yet even through the dying flame, the path of mankind blindly came. And in the heights cloud shadows fell, revealing every wishing well And every psalm of recompense as roads that lead to innocence, Yet innocence is well and good, but should it drip with Holy blood? While on the beach the footprints stayed, a place where only lonely lived And stretched across the sunset shore, man’s silhouettes went far before The reasons why creation cried, and why its beauty all but died, Before heavenly starlight glowed again, before the soft blue diamond rain Came with the echoes of before, another place, another shore…
