Origami Butterflies
Upon a bridge within a scene, I breathed so many shades of green I listened to a chuckling stream, and lingered while I heard it dream Of so much joy and so much peace, a sense of heavenly release While far above me in the skies, like origami butterflies Were clouds that writhed in fluttering ways through painted willow patterned days, Immersed within the depths of dawn, another blossom day is born So many colours in my eyes, entrancing textured silk surprise That wraps me rainbow ribboned shade, before the evening’s last gems fade. No time walks by the waterside, just images of magic glide Upon the mirrors of the morn, so many different smiles are born, So many ghosts drift quietly, upon their ethereal sea And whisper woven spirits flow inside their magic lantern glow Through diamond lace on birch branch looms, through other worlds and other rooms Where often spirits sail the skies as origami butterflies, When dawn and dusk hold hands again, to wander down their own back lane Old friends again, no need of time, immersed in their own ageless rhyme. Then back to where my moments wait, along the path, behind the gate That takes me slowly back again, through silk cloaked wind and sighing rain Until my eyes can see no more of what lies behind the distant door Along the lane, asleep again, cradled in joy and sometimes pain, Back home from the waterside, my cottage bids me step inside To bathe, to eat in perfect peace, a sense of heavenly release, I know the rendezvous I’ll keep, after I drift away to sleep For through my window starlight flies with origami butterflies…
