Fields of Fire
In my far away Elysium I walked the fields of fire In the company of heroes singing songs of dark desire, The shining green of laurel in a halo round my head A sense of immortality in dancing with the dead. I bowed before the Titans in the bowers of regret Then I stole the rings of Saturn as the sun began to set, And Cronos vowed his vengeance for the son that got away But Olympus favoured Zeus and he soon would have his say. I called out to Hyperion to bless my heart with light But Pandoras Jar was opened with the keys of second sight, And Cerberus was tethered with a magic shining rope For the jar was not yet empty while it still remained with hope. Past the portals of remembrance through the meadows of the dance Andromeda and Perseus were living their romance, With Bacchus in attendance And the rhythmic pipes of Pan The fires of wise Prometheus were given forth to man. Through dreams of my Elysium I walk the fields of flame The dancing seas of poppy fire are whispering my name, A keyhole to Olympus lets the sun come shining through To paint a couplet in the skies of gold entwined on blue. In these days of broken visions I will walk the path of old And leaves that grace the branches now will soon be turned to gold, For my memories of Elysium have taught me how to cope And Pandora doesnt matter just as long as we have hope
