Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required My dear dearest Maya, This fellow poet and friend grieves so at your passing, You were a most wonderful world poetess, Still, you were much much more, That wonderful dancer in you gracing the stage, So many enjoyed your effortless swan-like movements, Then again, you were a champion of Civil Rights in America, Your awesome novels breaking the mind barrier of so many unaware, You were first African-American woman to write screen play that was filmed, Georgia, Georgia was acclaimed worldwide and nominated for Pulitzer Prize, Your award winning poem Just 'Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'fore I Diiie' won the Pulitzer Prize, My dear friend your poetry quite literally changed the WORLD!, You were such a wonderful actress, Porgy and Bess was my favorite, Maya, your poem "On The Pulse Of Morning" was my favorite of yours, Although it was not acclaimed by those elitist critics made no difference to me, Your poem when recorded won you a Grammy Award, I was so happy to see you receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, You were this country and the worlds gift from God my dear, My father Albin who passed at 94 years young in 2009 was also your admirer and friend, As you know he was President of the California AFL-CIO for 36 years and a champion of workers, He used to sit for hours after he retired and read your wonderful novels and poetic works, I could say so much more Maya, yet just want to say I will also celebrate your life! We will have plenty of time to talk when I meet you in that heavenly eternity waiting, In the meantime, please embrace my father Albin and mother Dorothy when you see them.
