A Bit of This and That
Since early childhood he had been wandering the world vast treks completed mainly on foot, some like in days of old walking in the footsteps of Stanley and listening to tales told of safari's into the depths of the dark continent there finding gold crossing over the towering escarpment lighting fires against the cold huddling together sharing a self caught meal, settling down in the fold then onwards deeper finding an elephants grave yard, tusks already sold their bones litter the valley, stark white bleached by the sun, some have mould picked over by jackals and hyenas, who now the lions have departed grow bold finding diamonds lying sparkling on the ground. Then onward to travel the world footnote: elephants grave yard. This has not been proved although many tales give the idea some credence. People who have followed dying elephants always seem to lose them around the escarpment where they just seem to vanish. I doubt that such a thing exists with all the scientific-al advances now available. Written 04/28/2014 Contest Any poem 30
