Treacherous Moon
Moon my love and shining knight. I waited for you last night. Shivering in anticipation then desolation. Lately you did not shine. Darkness I did not mind but your rejection was unkind. Oh treacherous Moon, on whom were you warming last night? You even took the stars to entice and put sparkles in her eyes. Your splendour I thought was all mine, stupid me blind-eyed. I was never in your designs. Pierced by insects in the dark pests of paradise when we part. Real darkness was in my soul where confusion had taken hold. Thoughts tormenting my mind deceit, lying and worst of all, the cheating kind. Nerves stretched to ease the pain taunting thoughts eased in, like rain. Moon you promised me wings to fly even a slice of the sky but you lied. In the mirror I looked for a reason. A beauty no longer but a face well seasoned. Stampeding thru life with pieces falling apart. Losing all but the wrinkles and the scars. The mirror never lied twas why, it never was a companion of mine. Staring back was a reflection so true it stunned, turning my grey hair blue. It was never Moon, it was You. You were the cheat and the liar, suppressing all my desires. Those I loved you pushed them away You kept me dreaming where the palm trees swayed. Thoughts and actions misconstrued I blamed it all, on The Moon.
