Though now as an adult I realise, How tough a life we led. Cold, cold winters in a council house, Sharing my sisters bed. Cold, cold nights, bleak and damp, Icicles on the windows inside. For years I suffered from whooping cough, Twice I nearly died. I remember us burning, shoes and toys, Just to try and keep us warm. But that was the only thing we knew, To us it was the norm'.
