The Silver Haired Queen
AS SHE SITS IN HER CHAIR, STROKING HER HAIR, HER SILVER GREY HAIR LONG AND CLEAN. SHE THINKS OF THE YEARS, AGED BY TENDER TEARS, THINKING OF GOLDEN YEARS SHE HAD SEEN. A RAVING BEAUTY A QUEEN OF ALL HEARTS, SHE GLIDED THROUGH LIFE ON A THRONE. BUT NOW SHE’S GOTTEN OLDER, YES OLDER WITH TIME, HER HAIR’S NO LONGER GOLDEN AND ACHES FILL HER BONES. BUT, OH ALL THOSE MEMORIES, WITH GUYS CHASING HER, THEY WOULD CLAW AT THE CHANCE TO BE NEAR. OH WHERE ARE THEY NOW, SIGHS THE SILVER HAIRED LADY, DON’T TELL, BECAUSE SHE JUST COULDN’T BEAR. TO KNOW THEY ARE NOT LOOKING CAUSE SHE’S GOTTEN OLDER, THEY’RE LIVING A LIFE ALL THEIR OWN, SHE JUST GOT A LITTLE OLDER, SILVER AND CHUBBY, SHE NO LONGER SITS ON THE THRONE. WHERE DID THE TIME GO? DID IT FLY OUT THE WINDOW? SEEMS NOBODY REALLY KNOWS, BUT THE SILVER HAIRED LADY STILL REMEMBERS, AND TELLS IT WHERE EVER SHE GOES. BUT YEARS SEEMED TO CATCH HER, LEFT HER BEHIND, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE WENT THEIR WAY, BUT SHE’LL NEVER FORGET IT WAS HER THEY WERE CHASING, WHEN SHE WAS THE QUEEN OF THE DAY. SO LET’S GIVE A CHEER AND LET’S CHEER LOUD, LOUDER THAN OTHER GREAT SOUNDS, THAT WE KNOW THE LADY, THE SILVER HAIRED LADY, WHO’S THE SILVER HAIRED QUEEN OF OUR TOWN.
