Just a Man That Lived
There are songs to be sung, there are memories to be had About a loving husband, a mentor and a dad He’s still here with us in each moment that we’re awake As we hear him right beside us with each step that we take He shouts out “sing in the sunshine, dance out in the rain Play hard like you mean it and laugh at your pain Tell mama that you love her and show it in every way Throw a biscuit to the dog and call it another day” Yep, he sang all those songs, he lived them to the hilt He left nothing on the field, in his heart had no guilt So put a smile on your face, put a song in your heart You can never finish the race if you never even start One day down the road when the Savior comes to call When all nations of the earth have taken that fatal fall The savior will call out his name and he’ll rise from the grave As that old flesh and blood will no longer make him a slave Sing out those old songs, keep a heart full of glee Never give up on life and be whatever you can be Hold your family close to you and leave a legacy to behold Walk a mile in his shoes on the same ground that he strolled
