Icy Days
It took a half hour To scrape the ice from windows The heater running, trying it's best To defrost the windshield. It took twenty minutes To dissipate the chill Enough to breathe inside The car without seeing our breath. Everything dripping with Icicles, coated in a Frozen dream, to brave Out on the city streets. After she left, I had cocoa Extra marshmallows. Worrying about the slick Roads and her well-being. A good day to stay Wrapped in a fuzzy robe Complete with bunny slippers Watching "Reservoir Dogs". Enjoying the caramel Vapors rising like steam Like my breath outside In the winter-bound town. Trapped inside in winter The same in summer too. Lovely only the nighttime moon The year round comfort of stars. Surrounded by the smell Of old books on the shelf That distinctive allure They pull me in, masters of old.
