The Graveyard Guest
The sun forgot to tell the moon 'Good morning honey, now go to sleep!' So the moon was blue, While the eyes wandered like A nascent feather in a sidereal sky, The sword of faith leapt up to Smear the sky with morning blood A knight in rags sat down... The sunlight spots on the velvet ground, Looked like scattered memories, The dew had lived its death, and The knight in rags remembered, 'When the kingdom was of gold and grey, Serene wind blew accross the bay, When light was the shining armour in sight, Men and women, need not plight, When mothers toiled for daily bread, And daughters need not be afraid, When a hand was always on your waist, On lonely nights, while demons faced, When peril was a florid toy And the knight was just a mere boy....' Daffodils strewn on barren land, Looked like days of chatelaine woes, Lonely tombstones are a child's easel, and The knight then remembered, 'When the clouds never veiled the sky, Yet the birds never did fly, When galleys allured hope from will, And foolish sons had promised to kill, When hallows revealed treasure chests, And the soul was lost as a graveyard guest, When subtle saunters through deadened homes, Rustic tunnels and colossal domes, The knight in shining armour hummed Thy kingdome come, thy kingdom come'
