An Old Familiar Wind
Leaving the foot hills of Ohio The farm life My family Wasn't hard to do I knew I could make a difference and to myself I had to prove It was 1983 I felt so alive The sweet smell of magnolias filled the gentle breeze I moved from town to town, city to city Just trying to aid the poor and speak of hope and life But rarely did that old mill town I first went to escape my mind A slower pace, a friendly face, a nice southern draw, endless to me in time As my adolescence now is fading fast but the gentle breezes caress me now with a chill in the air Oh, those whistles blow on down the tracks Yet in my mind I travel to a time so fair Sweet magnolias and muskidine wine, boiled peanuts for a dollar at a road side stand Southern hospitality,Yes Ma’am and No Sir And the Braves are going to do it again! They said I had to come back home Sometimes It feels I'm in exile here Its a good place to be from I know With the brutal winter approaching The Doctor said I need a warmer climate but the kids are settled here One day I will make my break away from this place To an old familiar wind~ and breathe it in
