Someone licked it all up And moon crumbs scattered down Like a celestial vacuum cleaner Someone sucked up all the moisture My heart land is parched and dry Like inverted tea lights in the sky Someone reached out and snuffed the stars There is no twinkling in the night Like the idol that received adoration Someone hammered the image down My mind is a temple devoid of love's chants Like a tomb holding dead bones The illusion of your love lies entombed In the sepulcher of my heart Only memories remains Of all that you were to me Eileen Manassian Ghali
