A Talk With Father Adam
Someday I’ll sit and talk with Father Adam. He will have the answers to some things that bother me I’ve seen the world in all God’s awesome splendor And I’ve known God’s precious gift of living free. He will appear to be much older than pictures drawn by man And remember, we never saw him as a child. What was the discontent that altered his intent And brought all mankind out of Eden to the wild? I have seen the pain of being shackled And many ruthless tyrants’ atrocities. I’ve witnessed all the wrongs that sometimes come along, When people cannot live together peacefully. I’ll see concerns on Adam’s furrowed brow, That eons haven’t erased, somehow. I will hear him as he wonders how The world became what it is now. I’ll ask him all about his family And just how all this came to be. The beauty of man’s home in Eden Has turned into the chaos you now see. We’ll have the time to answer the questions history brings But, somehow, we cannot approach the one that bothers me. So, I’ll clear my throat, take one deep breath, And ask, so innocently, “If you had known what the effect would be Would you have eaten the fruit from that damn tree?” Written By John Posey 04/11/13
