Phoenix
Far below and sinking so above my end It’s hard to be back here in Phoenix again The ambience of this air touches rougher here as far as I’ve known In this infected place where my lingering wounds no longer stay sewn These old tattered clouds cleave into my gloom Sending me an invitation to a tomb I once slept in for years There is still bloody tears Stained on the dry desert floor It’s hard to be in Phoenix anymore Dare I tell you how long I’ve dragged through this desert hell? It started in only a drawn-out minute, just a minute That minute evolved into multiple minutes Those minutes multiplied to countless hours Countless hours faded into shrouded days Shrouded days became beclouded weeks Beclouded weeks turned to decrepit months Decrepit months sickened to timeless years And the years, well I lost track of the years Misery grew inside of me like a wretched tumor Until finally, it came bursting through my seams A waterfall of time poured out of my eyelids And my ears and my mouth and my nose like a garden hose left forgotten Until a lake formed in the dry, cracked desert set out before me So naturally, I jumped in Desperate to get out of this crushing heat That I've been suffocating in since I was a child As above and far below my friends It’s deadly to be here in Phoenix again.
