A Promise
7/28/12 ----------------------------------------------------------------- When I look into your eyes, I see my father looking back He smiles and comforts me Through you I can truly see Only you and him I could bring myself to love And though he’s gone. . .he is present A taste of the love I have missed so long But now in a different style Your smile. . .that beautiful smile Brings me back to the memories of joy He stood beside me. . .I was just a little boy And he left me long ago With a promise He said there is always hope in every period of our lives The hardest thing to do is grasp onto it And accept it. . .and nurture it. . .fulfill it You are my hope You were sent by my father I owe you everything And I will love you and change That’s a promise There is a hope I have come to grasp And I mean to fulfill it
