Grief
Grief “14 But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.” Psa 10:14 NIV Not a teardrop goes unnoticed; Nor a sigh of Grief in vain For God witnesses all, And turns our losses into gain. When we experience hardships, We often wallow in our sorrow, Instead of praising God above For the sunshine of tomorrow. When we consider Friday’s sorrow— Christ’s death on Calvary, We must remember Sunday’s joy, That on Friday seemed an impossibility. Because we do not know the future, Or what God has in His plans, What seems impossible today, Could be held right in His hands. When the sky seems overcast and grey, And deep sorrow floods your soul, Remember Calvary’s joy-filled Sunday— Christ’s resurrection to extol. Although we do not understand, The purpose of our trials, We can hand them to our Savior, Who will not leave us in denial. When it seems that the darkness Will never, ever turn to day, You must ask God to help you, And for this help continually pray. He will not deny you, For the Bible tells us so, But He does ask for obedience, Enabled by His Spirit below. There’s not a soul on earth That is exempt from Grief. It touches all our lives, But our loving Savior offers comfort and relief. So if Grief’s shadow graces your doorway, Try to praise the Lord above; Not for your tragedy, But future joy found in His love. © Copyright 2012 Maureen LeFanue www.maureenlefanue.com
