The disappearing birds who flied as closer I got each new stride off to find somewhere to hide there's not one left, now i'm outside. The squirrels foraging winter nuts raised tails showing lil white butts upon my sight they left not even dust i'm off mate, time to bust. The grazing deer in a wooded clear one crack underfoot, all it needs to hear bounces off in highest gear I didn't even get remotely near. Even a cat is off like that! The creeping fox of dawn receeding looking for a spot of easy feeding the scent from bins hungrily reading hears me and gone, fastly speeding. The badger amongst the hedgerows distinctive markings on that big long nose those long sharp claws on each of its toes but it smells me and off it go The rabbit amongst the vegetable patch sorrowful look at one in a hatch if only it could work a latch it bolted sharply avoiding a catch. Many pheasants and peacocks abound eating all the grain they found all fly off as they hear my sound all that's left, feathers floating to the ground. The butterfly painted so bright such beauty when 'tis in flight flutters away at the slightest fright oh what a delightful sight. Why do all these animals run away? All I want is a little play. ©John-Ovan.P.Hull
