Their Love Had Turned Cold
They had moved in last May, they were a weird couple from LA, Mary the dancer and Jerry the singer... cabaret music was a delight to their ear. We met in the elevator around two, and I welcomed them to the neighborhood; they smiled, but they didn't hug as lovers do... could it be that their love had turned cold? I heard all of their conversations from the above floor, Jerry told Mary to stop stumping, " Easy on those steps...are you dancing, or trying to wake up the poor guy down below? " " I need to practice or I'll lose my job at The Coor... how will we survive on one paycheck...eating peanuts? " Mary hollered by making more noises on the wooden floor... Jerry responded angrily, " Well, we'll need to make some cuts! " Yesterday the noises got much louder, I woke up shaking, thinking another violent earthquake had stroke... glasses breaking while Lisa Minelli's, " Cabaret " was playing; nothing fell off my shelves...was it mere luck? I went straight to the shower to distract myself, even in there there was some banging...it seemed like a jealousy fight was going on, and too often I heard that offensive word! The next day they apologized, telling me that their love had turned cold.
