The Short-Term Loan
The Short-Term Loan By Elton Camp Richard Rich asked a New York bank for a loan “Since to Europe for two weeks I have to be gone, I’d like to borrow $7,000 bucks until my return. It will help me and some interest you will earn.” “I realize that the bank doesn’t know who I am Hold my Rolls to prove I won’t go on the lam.” So in the bank’s underground garage car was stored While he was away, his finances the bank explored They were amazed to learn Richard was a billionaire And wondered why for such a small loan he’d care On his return, Richard with a smile paid off his debt Less than twenty dollars interest the bank did get Loan officer asked, “Why would one rich as you Such a small loan have any good reason to do?” Richard said, “Thanks to the bank showing such pity, It let me park two weeks for $20 in New York City.”
