Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required A wooden cross on Calvary's hill, His broken body was deathly still. The Lamb of God hung on that tree, Giving His life for you and me. His name was Jesus, God's only Son. He said God's love was for everyone. He came to save His own from sin, But their hardened hearts wouldn't let Him in. With sorrowful eyes and a broken heart, He was beaten and bruised, His flesh torn apart. A crown of thorns was placed on His head, He was nailed to a cross where soon He'd be dead. His followers watched in fear and despair, As shouting and weeping filled the air. The sky became dark in the middle of day. "Father, forgive them," they heard Jesus say. He cried, "It is finished!", and took his last breath. Then the earth became violent and shook at His death. His body was placed in a tomb not His own, The entrance was sealed with a round heavy stone. His disciples were stunned, their faith was in shreds. How could it be true, their Messiah was dead? They huddled together in fear for their lives. The Master was gone. How would they survive? Then three days later women went to the tomb, To anoint Jesus' body with fragrant perfume. But instead, they saw angels who said, "He's not here", "Jesus has risen, there's no need to fear." What joy was theirs when Jesus appeared, And proved He was living, not dead as they feared. He showed them the wounds on His hands and His feet, And then He asked them for something to eat. Before He ascended to the Father's right hand, He gave them instructions to go to all lands, To preach the gospel and make it clear, That Jesus is Lord and His salvation is near.
