Take Wing
Breathlessly wait. Autumn’s chilling winds pulsate through trees, rustling multi-hued leaves, casting them to nature’s floor. Spread your broad wings and try to catch the currents, gliding with grace, emulating birds in flight. In dreams I flap my arms, soaring over continents. Why, look, see the outline of each state – color coded, an atlas below. Laugh at the irony; this is the only view we have without wings. Stationary locations we long to supersede. Take me to new lands, higher and higher I sail, hoping to reach the loftiest peaks. Even Mount Everest is possible to escalate with little effort by air. Desire to break free of worldly ills, wars, famine, political turmoil, allows us to release negative energy. Temperatures, weather conditions - cruise above these, enjoy the albeit too brief lift. Flight, whether in dreams, free-falling, hang-gliding, permits us to reach otherwise unattainable goals. Cut those threads that cause you to remain earthbound; no umbilical cord is needed when you simply take wing. *Written for the "Flying" contest
