The Right Thing
As the cream in her latte swirled like art her thoughts drifted absently to a time forever etched in her heart. She was young, in love and so carefree He was smart, athletic, the star of the team. They met at a game, he had given her a wink, she smiled politely, her eyes twinkling stars. They playfully talked as the sun shone pink then he gently and lovingly took her hand. He made her laugh and was a great kisser, as they strolled on the boardwalk like starstruck lovers. Her son has his eyes, his lips and his hands, my joy, my pride, did I do what was best. Your dad does not know the life he has blessed. Times were different back then, she whispered quietly to herself. He lived and breathed the love of the game. As her son approached and gave her a wink, she knew right then; she had done the right thing.
