Mirrored Soul
On a clear day at the edge of the lake, into her lovely hands she did partake, Of the still, cold water to quench her thirst, Thinking of scenarios… best and worst. It had been ages since she thought her own thoughts, Caught up in the secular world’s nowhere lots, Always striving to be part of a popular label, To remain friends as much as she was able, With those all this time she thought were friends, So thought their thoughts and sought their ends. She had never taken the time to connect with her inner self, That God given conscientious treasure of spiritual wealth. She would start at times to delve into it but never for too long, Afraid that she would think differently and be labeled wrong. Such a fear of being ostracized and losing face, Kept up this false, franticly ferocious pace. The water rippled while she drank her fill. thinking these thoughts until it became still. Then fear and dread suddenly filled her, The shock and anxiety nearly killed her. The mirrored waters reflected all, but showed not a trace, Of her once precious, unique, God given face.
