A Stroll Down Memory Lane
A long time ago on Lovers Lane At a young-teen party; pre-teen game There sat this girl, know not her name Played “Spin-the-Bottle” just the same She had the looks; a golden mane Her eyes were anything but plain Her lips that I sure hoped to gain Burnt an image on my brain I spun the bottle; what a shame It pointed to this old plain Jane I kissed plain Jane and what a pain I felt my luck was on the wane I spun again to my disdain This girl looked more like old Mark Twain I kissed her just to be humane This game had now become inane But my next spin; I can’t complain It landed on my new found flame My heart could barely take the strain The pounding beat it did attain We kissed; I thought I’d gone insane As all my energy did drain And with this kiss I did obtain A reputation quite urbane I hope this stroll down memory lane Won’t come across as so mundane I made it up to entertain And not for riches or for fame ( I hope this gets me the following emotion) There once was this poet named Mike And some of his poems they did like He beamed with content With each glowing comment But not when they said “take a hike” Mdailey 6/21/11 Contest: Emote
