What If
What if God hadn’t planned the world, in his exact and perfect way? He might have left out all the flowers, that brighten up the day. If he hadn’t made the sun so bright or the moonlight so subdued, how would that affect the ocean’s tide, or the growing of our food? Perhaps the bees and butterflies, would not fit in the scheme and we’d go to sleep in daylight and were never meant to dream. If the sunrise and the sunset did not come in Technicolor and the sky was always darkest gray, or some hue even duller; if the only animal he made, was the hippopotamus or maybe just for fun he’d add the big rhinoceros and the others things He gave us, were slugs and bugs and such; do you think we would be happy? Would we like that very much? And now I’ve had a dreadful thought. I’m elated its not true. Suppose in his forgetfulness, He’d forgotten to make you. Would he see how very sad I was, if I had never met you? That’s a very silly question, ‘cause God never could forget you. For Desiree's contest "What If"
