Motion of Mercy
It’s tied to her hand With no dignity or pride, stuck, like a brass band Day and night it gazes wistfully at the stars Wanting to visit them and be healed of its dark scars But no, never, never. The girl won’t set it free But keeps it veiled behind the impossibility of dreams and hope of jubillee It doesn’t complain. It just tousles and smiles and twirls under the wet rain. Never. The girl just sits, glum and depressed The rain falling hard giving her no rest From the disheveled nagging And tugging at her heart, dragging and lagging Never, never. She loves it too dearly They’re friends, forever, until eternity. Never. She stated it so clearly It doesn’t complain. Just nobly dances under the everlasting downpour of rain. Until one day the girl looks up and sets it free; never to forget their inexplicable perfect fit The balloon swims higher and higher Reveling up and up out of the mire Now the girl sits, free, done. Completely done With her lumbering work as she glides through the imaginary sun She sits and smiles Elated, though the world continues around her, dark and wild
