Anthropology
This is an older piece that I found from a couple of years ago. I have more old goodies for those of you who are fans of mine already. Enjoy. Speak, strange brother of mine Darkened skin or pale in tone, Why do I not know you? Together we are both alone, Your eyes and beliefs are alien My view points are not your own, As my beliefs began with determinism Yours too are planted and society grown, Our diction is similar but different Aspirations are opposites yet the same, As the tiger views the lion at first glance Fear and respect live within our names, Our labels force us inside of a box Frailties inspire judgment and empathy Not knowing now, that we are one Nor how the correct word is sympathy, Sympathy is the term we shall feel As insight inspires greater understanding, To study your life is to reflect on my own As each existence is equally demanding, As minor details have kept us apart, I now see you, As a picture of me, placed on a different shelf, For who I believed would be a task to “know” Is merely a different name, given to, myself
