Princess of Castle Fraser
White steeds drew me closer To my new home, sae very dear The great stone castle came in view The soldiers their brass horn blew I stepped out all dressed in white Ae bonnie princess of medium height My dark eyes took the weaponry room As I was led inside by my groom He took me gently to the green chamber Sae lovely, I still remember The maids helped me settle down Biding for the promised night in a shimmery gown As evening advanced, my heart flutter’d And nature spirits around me mutter’d But alas the groom ne’er came Black knights emerged in his name Ae sword of silver touched my breast Blood poured down over his vest My lifeless body was dragged along The stairs that were oh sae long My soul watched in silent anguish Ae vanishing dream that I wanted to cherish They tried to wash away the bloodstains Unaware, they would always remain And today as I float amid these darkened halls And sing my tunefu’ music thru the walls Ae chilling breeze keeps me company But my heart longs for a revenge on past villainy Dedicated to my Highland friend, James Fraser
