The Owl of Insignificance
The Owl of Insignificance It happened on the eve of May From a dream awoken so tense As the pounding of his lonely heart Brought rhythmic relief to the silence As he listened to the beating thoughts Ideas began to make sense So he pondered puzzle pieces All the what’s and why’s of whence But some things don’t have answers So he laid there in suspense And wished that he could somehow find That piece of evidence The sign that he could matter somehow In a universe that’s so immense Or that he was just a victim In a life of circumstance A slave to the tomorrows Of all the don’ts and can'ts Carved on the martyr’s tombstones By social sycophants So long he lay there thinking thoughts That came with no relents Every aspect of existence And all of its extents Until he finally had the thought Maybe I’m to dense Maybe all the what’s and why’s Are of no consequence So he sat there in the silence Freed his mind of raves and rants When from outside of the window He then heard a voice commence The words rang out with wisdom Who who who the echoing chants So he let the word consume him And at once it all made sense That who is all that matters Who one represents From whom they seek forgiveness For who a soul repents Then he felt a loving presence Come relieve his discontents And as he looked beyond the shadows Of his dying false pretense He realized the value of his insignificance By: Jeremy Siedlecki
