The fall of that year she picked cotton for two weeks. It was so cold she had on a coat,gloves her face was all red and so were her cheeks. Mom and dad tried to pay the bills before their money was gone. Dad left the house to get a Christmas tree he left at dawn. That year they knew Christmas would be slim. We decorated the tree but with no electric the lights were dim. We were all suprised to see nothing under the tree. But she knew the love of her family is all she would need.
