Ghouls and Goblins Draped In Snow, 1991
Alex, only 3-yrs. old; insisted I take her out in the blinding blizzard! She knew which neighbors had candy! Snow drifts were swirling over 3-ft. by now! I told her "Alexandra, if you'll put a snowsuit over your costume, i'll take you down to the corner and back, but I'll have to carry you!" Time began shifting in tremulous tides of Antarctica Carved pumpkins changed faces; heckling us, glowing in frozen stares The storm was blinding us with sideways pelting frozen ice and snow Can’t move my feet Next thing I knew, nothing was there no houses...no street....just doom.... With snow piling high the streetlights submerged Another world lurked now six feet below The candy seemed strange not quite from this place Frozen like mummies a bitter aftertaste It’s then that I knew I’d better hurry home Save myself and my kids from what I don’t know Blinded by snow with nowhere to turn We spun three times ‘round and found ourselves home 11/19/10 8:21 pm Remembering the great "Halloween Night Storm" of 1991, My Daughter Alex was determined to go out! I had to carry her All done up in her costume!
