Of Colored Streamers
Noise arose from past my window And I looked to find the reason, Yet, nothing did I see, nothing heard Darn, my mind is 'changing season' I rather have the Summer Then, my vision went to work As I took seat at window pane, I saw and then I heard The chattering drops of rain Amusing children of Summer Boys and girls, a daylight dream Like an old movie recalled from past, Long, it's been that knickered boys Filled the Roaring 20's cast As In days of my own summer To some, noise was ever a nuisance Many kids owned pearl handled cap guns Eying bad guys and Indian arrows Who made the noise? We were the ones It was fun, that time of Summer I was called , 'Sharp Shot Sam' The little girl next door was 'Sling Shot Sally,' She was my ally in many 'wars' Our battlefield, Mom called an alley I miss those 'wars' of Summer When tricycles held colored streamers Sally was decorating an Arabian steed, My little red wagon was ordinary as can be To match the plain of a prairie weed Summer, a wonderful Summer Summers remain my special seasons That noise outside is a treasure in life, Chatter now heard is from colored streamers Waving on tricycle still owned....by my wife Years later, we married, in Summer
