Autumn
Once again, sunshine has started its tilt, Shadows find themselves longer in the afternoon and earlier to bed. Silent sentinels of wood and bark, Calmly turn and blaze, bidding “fare-the-well” to their faithful green servants. Harvest is coming soon; tragedy in the fields, Painful as it is to bare, the razing is a necessity and a lesson to the hands that toil. Lambs have been returned to the barn, So sweet their faces, looking to the owl, who has been collecting her feathers for most of the summer. Soon there will be a hearthful glimmer about the world, Family warmth will bake childhood memories, captured in the scents of pumpkin and spice. Blessed is this time to remember the heart before the frost, To help prepare for winter’s promise of ice sickles and a time for closeness in spite of the cold.
