Oops!
The esteemed senator was entangled in a very delicate situation. It seems that with his long-time secretary he had yielded to temptation! It was obvious that she was (to put it delicately) in a "family way." He nervously laughed it off saying, "It's not my fault!" to keep the press at bay! His spouse in her heart wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. She didn't want to blemish his stellar career since he carried lots of clout. But when she queried, "Are you the father of the child?" he became aloof. "Get off my case and mind your business," said he, "Besides you have no proof!" As inevitably happens the long-time secretary completed her gestation. A spittin' image of the senator was produced creating national sensation! He replied to the media about previous denials saying, "I'm not to blame! As usual, you guys took my words out of context I shall always claim!" He went about his senatorial duties as usual stating, "I will show no shame! I will continue to serve the people of this nation and I will clear my name!" Well, "the people" wanted a leader who would provide ethical direction, And saw to it that he was voted out of office at the next general election! Robert L.
