Cinderella
That night I went to eat With my guy you see. After that made it home But still felt lonely I had a paper invitation To a big grand ball Do I go? Do I tell? For the first time sneak real small? I was told don't go out No need to show my face. The clock is ticking, it is late And I felt disgraced. So he slept and I stirred My stomach buzzing loud. My legs came to life And I got dressed all proud! With a feeling of guilt Yet a smile so big I closed the door quickly And jumped in my rig. I drove for miles To a bar To meet my friends Among the stars I said "Thank God" to myself As I drank and danced I looked around, I toasted them "Susie Q I love your pants!" I met lots of good contacts And made new friends as well. Then closing time rolled around And to a new place to dwell. "Where should we go?" I quietly said "Across the street looks nice." I said "who's there" and my friend said back "The guys from Miami Vice!" I yelled "SWEET" and marched across I loved that movie so. The actor that can melt most hearts Was sitting in the back row. So up I walked with my gals Ready for some wine. I looked a bit too casual For this swanky dine. My baseball tee and faded jeans Seemed to me a fright. I said "oh well, what the heck" I'll feel comfortable tonight. I shook each hand and said to them "Nice to meet you too." Then I glanced to the back row And our eyes were glued. Awkward I remember now This moment I find hazed. For all I really remember Was his eyes seemed glazed. I realized as I shook his hand And he said hello Who he was , so I ran Feeling marshmellow. I felt weird, but not like sick And certainly not like struck. I felt like a bolt had hit my heart And I had gained some luck. Laughing, smiling all night long Until the time was up The drive home was eerie I was scared like a pup. All the same as I had left All dark and quiet here. Crawling back into bed I dreamt with nothing to fear.
