Cheating Terms
Body lies somnolent upon each new day’s arrival. Mind knows the tacit words she said that day. Heart has been seared beyond any repair. X marks the spot upon my chest from gelid truth. Breaking my heart that day she left our room. Shedding communication from me, of all kinds, Only a placid look as she leaves for work at night. Scornful attitude she leaves me, facing insularity. These things have been a week’s pastime today Discovering, she says she is leaving me, forever. I pressed her to communicate with an old friend. Feeling of confidence, not realizing their past, Now I pass the time shielding my wounds so deep. However, looking hard enough you can clearly see. An X that marks the spot where she drove her cheating, Terms deep into my chest, while ripping my affection. X Marks the Spot (revised 6/15/10)
