Thou, from whose youthful body new life spawned Though fearing, knows not how trust forever lost, ripped two. Birthing alone with fright, your baby dawned. Naivety-gripping images burst through. Dreams, terrifying the soul; where reason belonged. Stings ringing, one young heart turned cobalt blue. Each thought a flight inside the mind, until My mother, with keen words did love me true. Her nurturing hailed the Son of God; free will. Guiding young lives on wings of motherhood. Encouraging and helping, love fulfilled. Oh mother, years have passed not understood. I come, now to give thanks to you, as I should. Poetic Form Terza Rima © Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen January 2, 2010
