Truth Behind Lies
I look at the stars we once watched together Knowing now this can only get better. You softened my heart which once was so cold Never has anyone ever been so bold. You took a chance no one else would And discovered the real me that no one else could. With your eyes you let me know you care And that for me, you’ll always be there. The question comes to me in my mind Why are you so incredibly kind? Your words are comfort to my heart For they are words that will never depart. You captured my heart with your personality so sweet And when you hug me, your warmth covers my body down to my feet. In my heart is a special place for you A place you found that I never knew. The day I left was the day I died And these past four years, to myself I have lied. About not missing you or not wanting your smile That had gone on for a real long while. And like you said, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone And that’s what I faced for four years long. My heart had ached for the loss of you A loss that became deeper as the years grew. But now we’re here and I’m lost in your eyes And now I see the truth behind those lies.
