Ode To Michelangelo's " the Deposition"
Ode to Michelangelo’s “The Deposition” O divine light You have cast shadows upon the eyes of Him And they have warranted His blood. His hands maimed from hate or duty His fingers curl from wretched pain. I who have Loved Him Carry His burden it is not heavy. Love has no weight Love sees divine Do we hide our sorrow Do we hide from those Who are the shadows? I see wounds of flesh Cast deep in darkness Cast deep into the stone soul of man. I long to breathe life where life no more breathes I mourn our loss The city himself grieves in pain and suffering and carries the body with those who recognize the pain of the earth. We have dined and beheld We have listened and followed Yet disgraced by jealous power This lifeless lamb Has paid the price. SACRIFICE! Oh great sacrifice. How could Your Light sacrifice and For what? For Who? Why? O Love Divine I SEEK Your Eyes To understand this blight To All Mankind. Our arms cry Our hearts faint And who are we To Love this man. To see this Light Divine. To wrap His wounds and bathe in Love To feel his flesh so torn. His Passion stole By shadows. His head a lighted Crown. O Son of Thine Light He will live on The story we will tell. Our silent stone froze in time Redeems beyond All Hell. Our pain is set and passion spells Carved in every line. Our humbled hoods Our weakened hands Yet firm in Thy belief. Stand in the light And see it move Across the face of Thine. It chases shadows, Creates a Crown, O Great Light Divine. Jeralynn B. Clark
