A THOUSAND SMALL SHATTERINGS
The day tilts into fractured colors, each shard a shifting shadow of something once whole within me. Grief shimmers at the edges~ a ghost of glass and glint bending light into bruise-born blues. I move through the morning wandering through warped reflections, every step scattering the pieces I meant to keep hidden. Sorrow swivels softly, a slow-turning wheel of memories I cannot still. There are moments when the world feels made of mirrors~ each one catching a different ache, each one tilting it toward me with tender precision. I see the faint flicker of former joys, the shadow-stained shimmer of what I’ve lost, the trembling tint of what I fear will fade next. Pain is not a single shade; it is a spiraling spectrum, a restless rotation of longing, lament, and that little lift of hope. It shifts without warning~ a sudden spill of violet dread, a flash of red regret, a wash of pale blue resignation that settles over the skin like cooling rain. Yet even in the turning, a strange, soft beauty blooms. Suffering, held against the light, shows its invisible symmetry~ of how a heart shatters and still sings. I lift a trembling sliver, watching it snare the sun. It flickers, then flares~ a shard of stubborn shine And in that shimmer, I see myself: not broken but bending. not ruined, but re-angled. A kaleidoscope still capable of color.
