Yet we love them like flowers we dry and keep in glass vases long after spring has passed. For longing is not missing what may be gone; its the light, the memory, the echo, made more powerful because we know they may have gone. So when we gaze at stars, living and dead, that are still shining, it's like planting our dried flowers back into the garden, trusting forgotten seeds will blossom among the cherished beauty we already know forever at heart.
