A Brand New Friend
This month I made a brand new friend And she is such a gem! In one way or another, Every day we've spoken. A connection sparked, I don't know how, It happened very fast. Yet, we both know we've formed a bond That will, for a lifetime, last. There's thirty four years between us This was for her a concern. But this gap means nothing As friends soon come to learn. We meet somewhere in the middle As at heart I'm old - she's young We share a certain sense of humour And our sense of fun. Overcoming reservations And giving it a chance, We have now seen each other And have heard the accents dance. What a lovely gift to get When right out of the blue An unexpected friend arrives As though made just for you! Looking at life, I can't help but feel That you've arrived at the best time. Thank you, my sweet dear new friend! [ Fogive the corny rhyme... ] July 2026
