The Carnival of the Barbarians
In our era, The savages no longer wear masks. They display the barbarity of their madness Like crowns forged from the ruins of a putrid world. They speak of peace With genocides trapped between their teeth, And their sterile speeches reek Of gunpowder, oil, and dried blood. Executioners now parade Beneath the spotlights of media empires. Their hands are stained with the terror of millions of innocents, Yet their suits are worth more than human lives. Modern conscience is agonizing In the cold corridors of absolute profit. Banks speculate on hunger While children learn war before the alphabet. Wolves govern the sheepfolds And call it civilization. They turn borders into prisons And oceans into silent mass graves. Humanity moves forward like a blind man Guided by merchants of apocalypse. Screens have become altars Where humanity is sacrificed for a few digital illusions. Supremacist imperialists build their thrones With the bones of humiliated peoples. They baptize their crimes as “world order” And their plunder as “international cooperation.” Cities shine at night Like jewels upon a corpse. Beneath the concrete of modern metropolises Millions of dreams rot into nothingness. Lies have become a sacred industry. Propaganda gives birth to mutilated truths That the masses swallow Like poison scented with patriotism. Even words are contaminated. Freedom crawls under surveillance, Justice sleeps inside administrative coffins, And dignity begs in the streets of capitalism. The new barbarians no longer scream. They sign leonine contracts, They shake filthy hands before the cameras While entire nations suffocate in the shadows. The world resembles a vast golden pigsty Where money washes corrupted consciences clean. Murderers become national heroes When their victims are poor or distant. The memory of peoples burns slowly. Official textbooks erase massacres As though History Could be cleansed with the dirty water of the victors. Amid the rubble, A few voices still refuse to bow. Men and women standing tall Carry truth like a torch through the storm. For barbarism often triumphs through silence, But never forever. Even the fiercest empires Eventually collapse beneath the weight of their own darkness. And when the masks finally fall, The world may discover That the true savages Were not the ones History accused.
