A Happy Burthday Wish
May 18th its a special day A day of fun, food, drink and play Grill is going, the whole yards loud Only the true friends in the crowd Hennessy poured with no hesitation Along with some great conversation Everyone’s ready their cups are full Laughter rises, all fun its never dull Another year added, but I wear it with pride Every scar, every win, every twist of the ride Toast to the lessons, the lows and my climb See I’m still here, it’s my time to shine So when this night fades as candles burn low I’ll hold onto this feeling, let it breathe slow May 18th yeah it’s more than a date It’s another year I celebrate My story ain’t perfect, but it’s honest and true Every page got a piece of what I went through I used to write chapters heavy with strain But this one is warm, like sunlight after rain I look at the ink of this moment I own Realizing I’ve never been writing alone Life held the pen even if I couldn’t see It kept spelling out “you’re meant to be” So I don’t rush this page, I just let it breathe Let the joy settle in everything I receive Because this isn’t time passing through May 18th…it’s a new chapter, for me becoming new
