A Lonely Walk Through Life
Most everyone is so tête-à-tête (alone, private) with ourselves, on emotional level, no matter who is around us. This verse is about just that To think of it, it’s such a lonely walk And I don’t mean “we’re here all alone” Yet when it’s time of taking own stock We have our memories, to smile and bemoan A life we share is the life we live With kin, schoolmates, best friend and brother But give a try, remember and unweave And often find reclusion, like no other Imbibing sounds, mommy’s smile and toy Sunlight, a fear of darkness, kitten’s scratch TV cartoon, ice cream, a feel of joy While doing falling baseball breathless catch A trauma of a fight with bully at the school New clothes that fit and biking down the slope A lazy soak with buddies in the pool Creaks oak tree when swinging on the rope Good movie that left mark on you somehow Someone’s adventure wished that you have had Surrounded by rules and yet you don’t bow Emerging self and ever-thinking head Mom’s fight with dad, your own awkward pain The sibling rivalry until you both grow up Wet droplets, wind, the tingling of the rain One Sunday morning of the solar ray wake-up A late regret, a hormone rush, infatuation Emotions, high test score, a joy of climbing rock Existing through unending pain sensation Female encounter of whisky, smoke and talk Unending doubts, self-exam, belief in God A meal to wolf when hunger really stings To come of age and being drunk – how odd Love of a girl, this love it gifts you wings Feel road rage, a paper cut or being me Testosterone cocktail, when one’s a dashing buck Assertiveness, you learn to disagree Relief arrives, when down on one’s luck To learn about life by chatting with the pal Sensations of lovemaking chiseled as you age To win and lose, to fall and rise, to find morale Grind unforgiving world with causes to engage A bleeding hole in soul as elder parents gone “She loves me” through, oh shucks, “we’re so done” Ah, feeling of regret, as age replaces brawn A burden off thy soul that weighs a heavy ton Career ladder sudden fall, it hurts your pride Talk to oneself, in verse, in order to be heard Through kids to come upon what’s deep inside Be wise, but stupid too, one of the human herd Socializing madly, yet we are so alone Incapable, unwilling share what we feel Such is a lonely walk, without the phone But so much truth in what I have reveal April 12, 2026
